3 Things To Remember In Your Article Writing Research Before You Submit Your Article
Writing articles is easy. You may not think so, but you don’t have to be Shakespeare! Write in plain conversational English, and write articles that people will find interesting and therefore read.
Article writing is just information-based marketing, which means that you are giving out information and making it interesting enough to convert readers into visitors to your site and then converting them into buyers of your product.
There are various tools available for article submission that you can use to make the process of submitting their articles more easily, but I prefer the manual approach, as it makes my articles more distinctive, and not duplicated all over the web.
What are the usual mistakes that people make in writing articles and submitting them to article directories?
1. They make the reason to promote the articles more important than the reason to write them.
There are three key reasons why you are promoting your site; getting people to visit your site, generating leads for future email campaigns and selling your product. But unless your article is interesting and informative, it will fail to achieve any of these objectives because no one will be interested in reading it.
There is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform and interest your audience.
Your objective is to get people to read what is in your article, and make them interested enough to click on your resource box at the end. You can only achieve this by producing good content. Therefore make this your focus.
2. Not fully using the promotional opportunities of article marketing.
You already know that writing articles will generate links back to your site. But you can also get more visitors from the article content as itself, through search engine optimization.
Do keyword research, using Wordtracker or Google itself, and mention those keywords at strategic places in the body of your article. Just be sure not to overdo them so that your article doesn’t become stilted, and the keywords too obvious.
Remember that article marketing is not just about getting the links back to your site from your bio box. A big part of article marketing is to get your article picked up by publishers with a large readership and thus leveraging the value of your article. If the article is also on your site, you will also get better search engine results.
Start out with an article marketing plan and ensure that your article will serve its intended function, which if you recall is to inform and interest your readers.
3. Publishing content that does not help your readers. As we have seen, in the process of writing articles, you may be wrongly thinking that their only purpose is to get links back to your site, and therefore more visitors and thence more sales. However, not all article directories are going to automatically accept your content without having a human review it before publication. Most of them have some guidelines and specifications on the article submission. Some allow affiliate links within the article, some don’t, for instance. This is why I prefer to submit my articles manually, so I can tailor it to particular directories.
You can leverage the power of your articles by writing articles that the directories other people will want to download for their own site. All it takes is one publisher with a large readership to increase your potential audience many times.
After all, the main purpose of directories is to provide webmasters with content for their sites, not to provide an advertising outlet for its authors. Therefore you must write the articles that webmasters actually want to put on their sites if you want your article marketing to work in the most effective way. So therefore obey the directory standard guidelines, spell check your article, do your research on a topic that people will want to read about.
Also remember that if all this seems like a lot of work, you can always hire a ghostwriter to produce a good content for you. This is what successful marketers do – they know that their strength is marketing, not writing articles.
In the end, it is all up to you. You can choose to get a little exposure from increased links back or enjoy a lot more exposure from taking the time to produce quality content.
