So I’ve been running all over the world lately, but I’ve finally decided to settle down and go on hiatus to prepare for this upcoming quarter!!

As I continue to prepare, I can’t help but to think about you and your desire to win in this industry. My goal is to provide you with valuable information that I personally learned and applied along that way that have brought forth great results, and as your Success Coach & Leader, I’ve decided to share a few things that I’m learning along the way.

This past weekend, I was in Las Vegas at the No Excuses Summit with BIG TIME Internet Marketers. I mean, these guys average between $3M – $10Million dollars “ONLINE”!!

I’ll tell you the truth, they put me in a trance and had me so baffled by my minimal success that I realized the need to step up my game and take so many people with me!!
See, here’s the deal…..most of these guys have gotten where they are within a 24-48 month time frame. And as I eavesdropped on a few of their conversations, here is what I learned:

#1. They all used the internet to build their business (which is obvious..right!!)
#2. They never really pushed their company on the front end. Instead, you had to dig deep to even discover what business they were in.
#3. They used FREE tactics only in the beginning, but really pushed to build their business in a major way by using PAID MARKETING…which I will share with you tomorrow.
#4. They all invested in events, seminars and most of them all started with this one book……………..do you really want to know??? Hmm….I wonder if I should tell you…. (I’ll think about it….)
#5. They didn’t waste time with tire kickers….they pushed and focused on those that were already leaders and driven….people who were willing to make quick decisions and were willing to invest in themselves.

See, I even had one guy share how he used Credit Cards, and had $40,000 of debt accumulated before earning his first check. Am I telling you to go into debt….NO??? However, would I say using your Credit Card now is worth the investment if you knew you could build yourself up to a 4, 5 or even 6 figure per month income…………………Can I say

HELL YEAH…..Oops, did I say that…
Anywhoo….this is my point for saying all this….
There are 3 books that I’ve come across that I know these guys have used to step their game up to the next level…..
But I’ll only focus on one of them in particular that reveals how they turn every single lead into a sale.

How To Define & Discover Your Passion

Last week, I had the pleasure of hanging out with a few people that have inspired me to “dream bigger” than I already have been. I was invited to Houston, TX by a few fellow buisness partners and given the opportunity to hang out with millionaires. I admit that this wasn’t my first time having this experience, but it was another reminder of the perks and benefits of being in the network marketing industry.

The photo you see above was actually a picture that I took from the balcony of their Houston Penthouse, and considering that I’m always inspired to write and share…whether by blogging, shooting videos or just simply writing in my journal, I was inspired by the view on today’s topic…… “DO YOU HAVE AN AREA VIEW OR AN AERIAL VIEW?”

See, here’s the story…..the penthouse we were in was surrounded by windows, and the tower is in the middle of the city, across from several parks, golf courses and historic buildings. While getting a tour of the city “from the skyrise”, several different monuments were pointed out to me and I would shake my head and say “oh, okay, so that’s the park, that’s the museum”, etc., etc.
However, when going out for a tour from the “ground level”, when they began to point out the various locations like the park, museum, and other downtown sites, it all looked TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Although I knew they were telling me the truth, the view at “ground level” was totally different from the “skyrise”/aeriel view. So I told my host Chante, I said “Wow, things look totally different when your on the ground floor versus seeing it from the skyrise level”.

Enjoying My Day At An Amazing Spa….wheww, this is the life!

Immediately after saying that, I began to think about my weekend in Houston and the fact that I was being exposed to a Millionaire Lifestyle as a product of being apart of the Network Marketing Industry. We were working in a home with a full city view, going to the spa for hot rock massages, riding around in 2010 fully loaded Benzes and being chauffeured by our driver, Mr. Kenny, the entire weekend (now that’s an experience in and of itself)!!! And I realized that Network Marketing is like getting the “skyrise” view of life….it’s the BIG PICTURE VIEW versus the everyday working world which is the ground level view of life where you can only see whats immediately around you.

You see, as a network marketer, although some people may not get the opportunity to earn the millions “in the beginning”, the benefit of this industry is that they get to network with those who are living the life that this industry offers….”the good life”. I’ve been in several different network marketing businesses, and yes I have failed numerous times, but the relationships that I have established with the various leaders that I was privy to meet in the various companies that I’ve been in, has allowed me to be exposed to things I would have “never, ever, ever” experienced in the working world, simply because most networks in the working world tend to be on an even playing field and barely making it. But when you are in the network marketing world, you have the opportunity to experience yacht parties, luxury vacations, luxury cars, high end restaurants and everything that gives you access to a 5 star luxury lifestyle……EVEN IF YOU PERSONALLY HAVEN’T ARRIVED YET AND MAKING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS!!

The beauty about this industry is that when you are hungry, driven, motivated and not jealous hearted, it’s fairly easy to make it into the inner circle. People tend to seek out the self-motivated ones, and often invite you to get a taste of what awaits you when you are persistent and determined to unveil the hidden treasures that this industry has for you.

Unfortunately, many tend to miss this and instead, spend time griping, complaining, kicking and screaming about what they don’t have, and what someone hasn’t done for them, all the while, missing the key to life………..EXPOSURE!!!

Exposure is what can make or break someone who may have been born in unfortunate circumstance but was able to get a glimpse of life’s alternatives and made a decision to “get out the hood”.

Exposure is what leads those who may have been an immigrant in a poor impoverished country, but got a glimpse of what the free world (America) was like, and they risked their life to cross over an ocean without a clue of what awaited them, all to land on American Soil, not knowing English, no money, no family and no clue of where to start rebuilding a life….but years down the road, becoming a Multi-Millionaire and Entrepreneur Extraordinaire.

Exposure is what allows people to have “vision” of the possibilities of life, and without vision, as the bible says, people perish….but with Vision, people can accomplish the extraordinary!

Exposure is the secret to any network marketer, because it allows them to see themselves as the success story, and fight pass the times of discouragement, a team that quits on you and a family that doesn’t support you.
Exposure is what we all need and should want to get to the other side of this journey!!!

If you are in a Network Marketing company today and you have access to pull on the coattails of successful people, and be invited to dine with them, what would you do? What would that be worth to you? What kind of questions would you ask? What kind of hope and vision would that give you?

It’s More To It Than Just Making Money!!

Hey Fellow MMM (Mailbox Money Millionaires)…..;)

I woke up this morning with a specific question on my mind, and was compelled to share with my M4 Family, ways to make money now.

It’s not unusual to be in need of quick cash. As a matter of fact, when I first got started with my Internet Marketing Journey, I had to find odd’s and ends way’s of making money to sustain, often doing administrative work for people along with other things. It was so funny, cause I got a phone call the other day from someone that I had created a blog for and wrote a few articles for asking me if I was still working as an article writer.
Although I chuckled, it was a good reminder that just 16 months ago, this was the way I was paying my bills. As I sought to build my internet business, I had to use the skills that I had thus far, and put them to use to generate income.

Here are a few things that I did to sustain:

~ Wrote articles for people
~ Set up blogs for people
~ Gave individuals a game plan for marketing their business online for a consultation fee
~ Wrote a book for a guy
~ Administrative tasks like creating power points, database entry or posting ads for people online
~ connecting people with tasks like logo development, book cover development, etc, charging a consultation fee to get it done.

I share this with you cause I often hear people expressing desperate need for income now, hoping and wishing that your business opportunity or internet marketing efforts will be an instant income.
However, these things take time and if you seriously want to make some money now, I highly recommend using the skills that you currently have and promote them through websites like odesk.com or warriorforum.com and start generating an income now.

When you start doing things like this, you support yourself financially and this allows you to continue to build your business but without desperation. I’ve always learned that being desperate is such a surefire way to kill your business because people can tell when your desperate.

So here’s my suggestion:

Begin looking at sites like www.elance.com or www.odesk.com to see what services people are currently offereing out there and do a personal assessment to see what your good at and could provide as a service to someone.

Set up a list of services that you offer like “power point presentations” or “writing articles” or “editing videos” and put your price sheet together. I highly recommend establishing good prices up front. If you price too low, it will be hard to raise them but don’t price it too high where you price your way out of generating business. Instead, be sure that you get paid for the time that it takes to provide the service, but make sure that you can perform as promised.

You can offer some kind of special, but DO NOT DESPERATELY PRICE TOO LOW where you will not earn a profit. Remember, your time is very valuable and you need to make it worth your time.

Also, look up Virtual Assistants and see what services they are offering as well to compare. Once you’ve established your personal skills and services, now’s the time to market.

It’s More To It Than Just Making Money!!

It’s great to get calls and compliments from people who applaud our small successes online. I often get those calls and yes, it’s good to know that people are able to learn a thing or two from us and what we do.

However, if you thought for one second that we don’t get those hollering, screaming, emotional “you robbed me” calls, then you need to think again.

Considering that I’ve been at this for a little over 2 years, I personally have experienced the challenges of trying to build a brand and presence online while not making any money.

But what most people don’t see is what we had to do behind to scenes to get to where we are today.
Most people think “Oh, your just lucky”, or “You had success overnight, why can’t I?”…..Hmmm……if they only knew!

See, what we have been able to accomplish is something called “consistent results”. It may appear that success and business came over night, but what many may not realize is that we’ve done a consistent amount of activities that have resulted in huge successes!

Let me give you an example:

When I first got started with Internet Marketing, I was broke, lived in an apartment with no furniture, sleeping on an air mattress with our newborn baby sleeping in a pack and play up until she was 18 months old.
I had no money, not many resources but I had a big vision and desire to get out of my circumstances and take control of my life.

So here’s how I did that:

1. I researched online looking for a solution.
After much research, I discovered MailBox Money Systems along with my mentor Tracey Walker who I personally reached out to for guidance.

When I first approached Tracey, I was given steps to implement, and once completed I called her for the next task. But what I didn’t do was put my success in Tracey’s hands and “blame” her for my lack of success if this Internet Marketing thing didn’t work out!

Tracey told me what to do and where to go to “buy” what I needed to get my online presence to the next level.
Although I didn’t have much money, I did have belief and a willingness to invest in me, so I called my dad and he would be my investor into my internet marketing journey.
Whenever there was something I had to buy like an auto-responder, lead capture page software or ebook…I did it, no problem, no harm, no fuss!!………Did I mention I was on welfare during this time and receiving wic………..hhmmmm….the point is, I found a way to get over my “circumstances” and implement elements of change in my life!!

2. I began implementing what I was taught and was excitied when I got results, but I didn’t expect overnight success!

I remember shooting my first youtube video. I was sooooo nervous and scared, but I did it anyway. Did i get tons of hits…nope! But I understood that the first few videos would be simply “exposure” to what the big time marketers do, so I’d follow in their footsteps.

The more youtube videos I created, the more traffic I “generated to my videos”, the more my phones began to ring…so each consistent video was a gateway to where I am today but it all took “TIME”………..over a year to be exact!!!

3. I began to implement other forms of marketing like “my story marketing”, coming up with my bio, putting a myspace page together and trying to find my way in this whole online ordeal.

What I didn’t do was expect to become an overnight success, but knew that it would take a series of consistent activities to get me to become an “expert”, so I was willing to stay in hiding as a student to learn what I could so that I could build my knowledge base up and be able to give something to the internet marketing world that made me worth the money I wanted to earn!! (you may need to read that last paragraph 10 times…..)

4. I remained consistent!!

I spent tons of countless hours and sleepless nights reading, studying, watching webinars, buying ebooks, attending webinars, hanging out in the library…whatever it took, “I WAS WILLING TO DO IT”!!

I clearly understood that in order to make money and become wealthy, you have to attract it to you by establishing a wealthy mindset, so my goal was to become a student of this industry that was willing to experience the grunt work that it takes to climb up the ladder of internet success.

NEVER DID I EXPECT ANYONE TO GIVE ME ANYTHING…..
NEVER DID I BLAME PEOPLE WHEN THEY DIDN’T CALL ME BACK OR PICK UP THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED……..
NEVER DID I QUIT BECAUSE I COULDN’T FIGURE SOMETHING OUT……….
NEVER DID I ALLOW “MONEY” TO BE AN EXCUSE…….
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER DID I PUT MY SUCCESS IN SOMEONE ELSE’S HAND……..

Those who have helped me did just that “helped me”…….but ultimately, success is up to me.

So, now that I shared that, I want to share with you an email that I received from someone today who nearly 3 months ago, showered me with so many compliments that I had to raise a brow a few times…..

Today, those compliments have turned sour because things didn’t quite happen overnight for him, so I got the shower of blame today and thought I’d share it with all of you so you can learn a thing or two about why you will or will not be successful if you choose to blame others for your lack of responsibility over your life!!

Here’s the background…I sent out an email blast to my list this morning asking for those on my list to fill out a survey, and here’s the thread:

Response from email:

Nicole, read your email, your skype..
I have left …. your survey is a few days and about
4 monthly payments, Late..
I am not willing to keep paying and not receiving
valid information that would actually provide some direction..

My Response:

I totally understand…I think you missed what I’m doing but no worries. I’ll remove you from the list!
His Response:
Nicole; I did not miss, what you are doing, for you.
We are all bound by, NEXT..
That’s the Hook!

My Response:

Oh (won’t reveal his name)…so sorry if you feel that way. It’s not meant to be that way. I think the challenge you had was that your not in a network marketing business so none of it made sense to you. This is a “training program” in which you are taught how to use the internet to generate leads for your business and how to brand yourself online as an internet “network marketing” expert. I am not in this for “me”. I am a vehicle that guides people to the resources that will help “them/you” “LEARN” what I had to learn to build my business online.
I know your a great man with a challenge of figuring this all out. You came to me to find “something” but this may not be it so please don’t become condescending because this didn’t fit what you were looking for. I believe in valuing relationships, and you were so sweet and complementing me endlessly “before” the frustration, so please note that we all have spent “TONS OF MONEY” on this journey trying to figure it all out and that’s the cost of “learning”….I’m not here to deplete your funds. I’m sharing what has worked for me and many others but here’s what you must consider:

1. we spent “years” learning all this stuff so it can’t be learned in a day
2. this is all “information” designed to “educate” so investing in yourself isn’t a rip off
3. this industry is about discovering a “niche” but if you don’t know why your in it, it’s hard to identify a niche
4. making money online is a “process that requires strategy” but you have to “give” something in order to “get something back” so you have to figure out what you have to offer the world so that they can pay you for it!

I believe you will ultimately find your way, but only when you figure out what your looking for!!!
The reason why I feel the need to share this is because I know many people out there want to blame “someone” for their lack of success. Because you may have found out about a program through someone or bought products from them but may not have known what to do with them…..that doesn’t mean that it’s their fault.

In the industry of Internet Marketing, we are all “resources” that are here to “guide you” to what worked for us. That doesn’t guarantee your success and neither does it place the responsibility of your success in our hands…we are RESOURCES sharing our story and giving guidance on our journey.

I’m very annoyed by the derogatory comments of those who fail and try to discredit what we do. If you don’t believe enough in yourself and the choices “YOU” make, then the mirror is where you should be pushing the blame.
Here’s what you must understand about leaders in this industry:

1. We can not guarantee your success
2. We had to spend money on countless things as well, but it’s all an investment in “yourself”….
3. We are simply here to guide you and can not hold your hand every step of the way…but can guide you to where you can go to find what you need
4. We do have a lot to share, but it’s up to you what you do with it
5. This industry is about learning, investing in your education and application…..that takes time.
6. If you need money now…….get a job, and work on the internet after work….money doesn’t start spewing out your computer cause you say you want to be an internet marketer…it comes when you can “add value” to the lives of others….so until you have reason for people to give you their credit card, find another source of income generation!

7. Your in total control of your life so don’t blame us when things don’t work as planned. I learned a long time ago that our success and our failures are apart of our destiny and theirs always a lesson to learn in them. Therefore, when I went bankrupt, homeless and had to go to the government for help, I blamed no one, instead I sought after the lesson in it all with a vision of using it as a testimony one day.

If you don’t have a vision for yourself, you can’t pay me to create one for you. Vision, Drive and Success starts internally. When I first got involved in Internet Marketing I quickly discovered the importance of “Viral Marketing”. If you’ve never heard of the term before, Viral Marketing is simply when you create content that is so captivating that you make others quickly share the information with everyone they know.

Woohoo! It’s Officially 2011!!

The festivities have come and gone and the kids are now back in school! You’ve put everything off until the New Year, and now it’s here so where do you start?
Do you have a plan in place for yourself and your business stating what you want to accomplish this Year?
Have you written down your Annual, Quarterly and Monthly Goals?

What about that work out routine that you said you would start for the New Year? Are you ready to hop out of bed, put on your workout clothes and hit the gym (or your living room) and press play??
We are all guilty for shutting down during the month of December, allowing our minds to go into “holiday” mode and gain some downtime. And honestly.. you should!!
I used to think that we should be working every second of the day, 365 days a year, and that taking a break was for suckers, but not these days! I’ve learned to indulge in downtime and give this brain of mine a break. However, I’ve also learned that when it’s time to do what you said you would, then go full force 150% with No Excuses!!
Now that the New Year is here, it’s time to get serious about your goals beyond just talking about them. Instead of pushing them off into the back of your brain as you fill your head up with empty promises of what your going to do, it’s time to write them down on paper and actually create milestones that will hold you accountable to ensure that you actually see them through!

Throughout the 4th quarter of last year, I found the need to get some downtime, pull back from it all and go on a soul searching quest to figure out where I was, at that current stage in my life and where I wanted to go next.
During that time, I spent a lot of time writing down my visions, allowing myself to elaborate on goals and ideas that I’ve had within me, but was too busy or occupied to journal or jot down. I also felt a bit lonely as I struggled with myself back and forth, questioning if I’m “good enough” for the ideas that I have and wondering if I’ll succeed at them.

A random “check in call” with one of my BFF’s, Melissa, would alter my focus from “wondering” to becoming “pro-active”. What we discussed was a plan to help one another with our goals by turning in our written plans for the year to one another and holding each other accountable monthly via phone, to ensure that we are actually working towards them.

This was such a brilliant idea because not only will I write down my goals (which I do annually anyway), but now I had someone looking at them with me and holding me accountable while helping me talk them out and execute them to completion! I loved this idea;) We loved it so much that my cousin, the 3rd diva of us 3 Amigos, Tyra Joined us as well for the 3-Fold Cord that will support each others success this year!
So here’s what I want to share with you to help you succeed:

Find a really good friend that is “like-minded”, but knows you very well, and exchange your goals with a plan to talk once a month about them to hold one another accountable.

Write down your goals based on annually, quarterly and monthly being very descriptive on what you want to accomplish

Walk through each detail of your major goals. I will share with you how I mapped my year out and give you a format to follow so you can do the same!

Get it done by FRIDAY 1/7/10! Find your accountability partner and both of you need to have your goals mapped out by Friday. The longer you wait, the more distracted you’ll become and it will never get done!

I admit that I was late in turning my form in, and it’s because I struggled with the gazillion ideas in my head and which ones to really focus on first. Thanks to a long conversation about my goals with the hubby last night, he steered me back on track and removed the cobwebs of confusion from my brain to enforce that I STAY FOCUSED.

So I will share with you a sample of my 2011 goal sheet, and my personal process of mapping out my goals.
Step #1: Write Freely without structure FIRST!!
Because I’ve learned that trying to “edit” your writing initially can put a damper on the creative process, I chose not to structure my goals up front. Instead, I jotted down everything that was jumbled up in my head, no matter how random they were. Here’s a little snippet:

Increase Twitter followers

Increase Blog Subscribers

Attend 2 Internet Marketing Conventions (1 Affiliate Marketing / 1 Blogging)

Start volunteering with middle & high school aged girls

Work with church maybe 1-2 a month

Start p90x and complete it

Do a detox

Start raw food diet

Join extra-curricular class like kickboxing or sewing for an outlet

Start Toastmasters

Start Speaking with the goal of booking 4-6 Speaking
Events this year

Get speaking site complete and up and running

This is just random things in my head that I jot down first.

Step #2: Get specific on goals You want to accomplish:
I know that there are specific areas that I want to grow and measure it’s growth, so what I’ll do is jot down the numbers like this:

Internet Marketing Followers Annual Goal:

Subscribers for blog – 5,000
Twitter followers – 15,000 total
Facebook Fan Page – 8,000
YouTube followers – 5,000
List total – 20,000

Although this list is very aggressive, what I’ll then do is break this Annual Goal down into Quarterly & Monthly (Lets take the Blog for example):

Blog Quarterly Growth Goal:
Q1 (Jan – Mar): 1250
Q2 (Apr -Jun) : 1250
Q3 (Jul – Sept): 1250
Q4 (Oct – Dec): 1250

Now let’s break this down even further to Monthly & Even Weekly Goals(to keep everything simple, I’ll just do it evenly):

Jan: 416 (Wk 1: 104) (Wk 2: 104), etc…… (DAILY GOAL: 21 ppl per day)
Feb: 416
Mar: 416

duplicate all the way down (this is just an example as I know the numbers will vary based on the months and the interaction of online users)
Step #3: Write down milestones / activities that will allow you to reach that goal:

Ways to increase blog subscribers:
Hire SEO team
submit backlinks
write articles to drive traffic back to the blog (be even more specific about this… submit 5 articles per week)
link all videos to live link for blog
offer free report to create more opt-ins
Create Autoresponder Series
comment on other blogs (3-5 per day)
post blogs more, 3-4 times per week
have more value on the blog that drives traffic due to the content

Step #4: Create Daily Plan of Action around the milestones:

You will then create your weekly plan around the milestones that you created and begin to jot down daily tasks that you must do to guarantee that you stick with this plan and generate the traffic that you “SAID” you wanted!

Monday (Today for example – 1/3/10):

Today’s Focus: SEO & Keywords (I’m simply looking at the list above as I type this.. that’s why you need to have more detailed milestones):

Post ad on Odesk with goal of hiring SEO team by Thursday to start on SEO

Research backlinks and keywords to understand the process better.

Research products that will teach me how to add the right keywords to my blog (Market Samurai).
Tuesday (1/4/10):

Focus: Article Submissions:
Post Ad for Article Writer on Odesk.
Find an Article Spinner
Find an Article Submission Product
Have Article Writer open accounts for the top 10 Article

Submission Sites.
Wednesday (1/5/10)
Focus: Free Report & Autoresponders:
Write down outline for Autoresponder messages and ideas that will make people ‘active subscribers’.
Create outline and topic ideas for Free Report
Research Topic Ideas and write down 5-10 Key points per topic

Format Plan to Write 2 pages of content every day for next 5 days, focusing on 2 key points per day to create Free Report

Thursday (1/6/10)
Focus: Follow Other Blogs & Interact / Content Calendar for my personal blog entries:

Look for top 25 blogs in my niche to connect with
Visit 3 – 5 blogs today , read top post and comment
Sign up for disqus.com

Write down blog ideas and topic keywords to help create a content calendar

Jot down 3-5 Blog Topics and create bullets on what I would want to cover on that topic for future blog entries
Set schedule for dates that I want to post and types of post I want to make… (i.e., lists, videos, inspirational messages, affiliate link-product training, upcoming webinar, etc)

Make decision on SEO Team

Spend this time looking at improvements that I want to make to the blog

As you can see, if you follow this format, you will allow yourself to set up a “Fail-Proof” Plan that gives you a strong level of direction on a daily basis to know exactly what your shooting for and how your going to accomplish it!!

I can recall the first time I got involved with Internet Marketing when I heard the term “Mailbox Money”. It was a very fascinating word, but I wondered how it applied to me, and how in the heck can I get some…lol!!

After digging deep into it all, and learning more about affiliate marketing, it wasn’t too much longer before I received my first check in the mail of around $15. I couldn’t believe that it was really happening. Here it is, I’m sitting here on my couch on my laptop, shooting videos and writing a few blog entries and articles and in return, my promotion of something generated a pay check…..

Okay, I’m loving this idea…… I thought!!

The motivation to really push the envelope was churning in me. I began to stay up throughout the night for weeks, digging, sifting and seeking out information that would better inform me on how to master this concept of “Affiliate Marketing” and “Direct Sales”. The checks would continue to creep in, sometimes in increments of a few dollars and other times reaching the double and triple digits…Woohoooo…..

A year into my journey, I joined a Network Marketing company with the focus of building my business solely online. I had been burned out from pushing my business to family and friends, and considering that I had saw that this thing could really work online, I said “what the heck”..let’s go for it!!

Utilizing those Internet Marketing Techniques would change the face of my business forever. My first real check was nearly $1500 and the second one was close to $3,000……….”Are you freaking kidding me??”……..I couldn’t believe that this darn thing was working so well……….but remember, I did go hard into researching and studying for one full year, but the point is IT ALL PAID OFF….BIG TIME!!!

At this time….not only was I earning an income from my primary business, but I also had multiple affiliate programs that were generating an income for me. Now this felt reaaaalllllllyyyyyyyy rrreeeaaaalllllyyyyy good;)
I had heard the term “multiple streams of income” but now I was actually living it out….now adopting the name “Mailbox Money Queen”.

It was this experience that showed me that so many others would love to learn these same tips and techniques, which is why I have developed this group.

It’s so hard to believe that we are coming to a close of this year ALREADY!! But If I were to do the highlights for 2010, I would definitely have to say that these 3 things were the highlight and epitome of this year:’

1. Internet Marketing
2. Social Media
3. Working From Home or Home Based Businesses

I personally admit that I’ve had a fantastic year in 2010, and I can say that I have accomplished a lot of my goals… Yayyy!! However, as I look back on this past year, there are a few areas that I admit to neglecting (that I never hear anyone talking about)….. and I’ve been feeling the negative impact from them every single day.
So as we prepare to close this year out, and establish our New Years Goals for 2011, I felt the need to write this blog entry because I want to help you avoid the same traps that I fell into this past year, and am now trying to recover from.

The first area that I’ve neglected in a major way by being in the Internet Marketing Industry has been “My Body”.

Considering that we spend countless hours on the computer, and even more sitting on the couch munching on some form of comfort food, I can tell that this Internet Marketing Profession is aging me in more ways than one. Not to be negative or anything, because the home based business is a very wonderful industry. But there are several pro’s and con’s to what we do, and I want to make sure that you’re aware of the con’s that will eat away at your time before you realize what’s happening in your life.

Below, I want to share a few things that will open your eyes before you let things get too far out of control.
I’m going to share what I’ve learned thus far about the dangers of what we do!

Here are the con’s of what we do:

1. We don’t get much exercise – considering that we work from home and our offices are only a few short steps away from the bed, we very seldom get any walking exercise in if we don’t have a regular work out regime.
I personally feel as though I’ve always been “trying” to work out, but tend to fall off after a few short attempts, all to feel like I need to get my butt back in shape again, a few months later. This vicious cycle has led me to being negligent of my body, and as an Internet Marketer, this is signs for major trouble… which leads to my next point:

2. Complications & Stress on our body from sitting at the computer all day – I never really took chiropractors seriously, and honestly, I had a very biased belief that they were rip off artists… UNTIL THIS YEAR!!!
After sitting on my couch for the past two years, with my laptop on my lap and feet propped up on the ottoman, I began to experience major pains in my neck and lower back, with stiffness all over my body. I brushed it off for a while, thinking that maybe I had just slept wrong, until one day I found myself home alone, stuck in one position in my bed, hollering to the top of my lungs because I couldn’t move my body without extreme pain, calling my husband and begging him to drive the 45 minute ride home from work to rescue me.

As corny as “ergonomics” may seem, it is crucial in our industry. And now more than ever, home based business owners need to add stretching and working out to their daily schedules to help release the stress that mounts in certain parts of our bodies as a by-product of the poor positions we put our bodies in while working from home.

3. Munch, Munch, Munch – When working at home, I find myself back and forth to the refrigerator like it’s apart of my work routine. What this does is creates poor eating habits, munching on quick convenience foods that add to weight gain and low energy.
I’m finding that I have to create weekly menu’s that are in sync with a workout routine, that will help to counteract eating out of boredom, and instead, will encourage a more enriching diet.

4. Not having an outlet outside of working on the business – As great as it may sound to be so driven that you’re working 12-18 hour days on your online business in pursuit of being wealthy… what’s the point when you don’t get out to enjoy the journey along the way.
They say that Health & Wealth go hand in hand, but I believe that having an outlet falls under the category of Health. It’s very healthy to find something else to do outside of working so that you can give your mind a break. Burn Out is a very common occurence in our industry and if your not careful, you will find yourself bailing out on what was once your “Dream Job”, due to Extreme Burn Out.

I personally felt this way over the summer and it led me to feelings of failure, questioning what I was doing, and slighlty depressed. Why?? Because I didn’t have any outlets, and all work and no play makes Nic a very very dull girl!

I had come to the realization that in the course of 2 years, I went through emotional challenges from a failing career, to trying to pick up the pieces after losing everything. And also adding “motherhood” to my life, while spending nearly every waking hour on the computer in an attempt to create a flourishing online business. It eventually paid off, but the fire was easily burnt out when things began to thrive because I just didn’t have the mental space any more to really give it 100%. Instead, I found myself desperate for a break, dodging phone calls and trying to avoid people all together.
It was then that I realized that I needed to have more going on in my life, than just focusing EVERYTHING on building a business. It’s way more beneficial to give yourself a break from it all more often, and engage in some kind of outlet that you enjoy, that is totally outside of your “business world”.

I’m now seeking to add some new fun things this upcoming year like bike riding, working out, enrolling into a dance class and more social groups locally, where I can engage in more human interaction…. which leads to my next point:

5. Not having enough human interaction – When I first got started online, I thought this would be the best thing in the world, making money from home and never having to leave your house…..The sad part is, I didn’t realize how literally, my social interaction with people would become non-existent.

Who would ever think that one could lose their social skills by working online. After all, Internet Marketing is hugely about building relationships with people online right??? …..

Well, there’s more to the story than just meeting people. The Full Picture is this, people really do crave human and social interaction, and no matter how many people you meet online, YOU STILL NEED TO GET OUT AND TOUCH, TALK AND INTERACT WITH REAL LIFE HUMAN BEINGS…… Seriously!!
As much as I was meeting ton’s of people online, I was neglecting a real social life “offline”, and became deceptively programmed to believe that my virtual world was enough and all I needed… YEAH RIGHT…
Never before, have I ever felt so lonely in my life. I began to notice that these 4 walls, and this extreme level of isolation was handicapping me AND MY BUSINESS…. You heard me right….if you’re not careful, this industry will totally isolate you, and you will begin to lose touch with reality and people. And this my friend will handicap your business.
Internet Marketing is great to connect with people, but you need to create communities offline to establish a culture where people are proud to be connected to you, making them more loyal to continue to do business with you. No matter how many more Social Media Sites are designed, and applications created, human beings need the human touch, and if your not careful, you will lose your ability to relate to people personally, and eventually will see a decline in your personal growth as a result!
Go join a social group “offline”. Hang out with your girlfriends or male buddies being silly and totally off duty. Join a Dance School, or take that class at the local college you’ve always wanted to take. Join the local gym and meet some new people. If you’re a stay at home mom, connect with local Mommy & Me groups, and GET A LIFE, outside of working.

I’ve noticed that I’ve gone from an Extreme Social Butterfly (before Internet Marketing), to an Introvert (post-Internet Marketing), and I’m having to retrain myself on how to interact with people “offline” again.
In closing, I want to begin to open the eyes to my fellow I.M.’ers to have a well rounded balance to your lives so that you can have a long lasting and exciting career in this industry.

With that said, I’m going to begin incorporating my personal journey for Fitness, Social and Professional growth in the upcoming weeks, and want to encourage you to join me in sharing your story as well.
