Affiliate Marketing – A How-To Guide

Affiliate marketing is a partnership that takes place between a web merchant and one or several affiliates. It involves revenue sharing. Affiliates are paid commission for referring leads, sales or clicks to the merchant. Affiliate marketing does not require affiliates to create or to sell their own product, nor does it require delivery of the product, customer support or e-commerce. All of these aspects are part of the merchant’s responsibility. In order to be an affiliate marketer, a desire to succeed is required, and also patience. Many internet marketers lose out on the prospects of affiliate marketing because of impatience.

Another requirement of affiliate marketing is creativity. This is key in order to be successful. Affiliates must develop not only a good website that is content based, but they must also be able to incorporate their affiliate links into all of their content. They must provide prospects with quality content that will make them want to come back to their site continuously. In conjunction with this, affiliates must be hard working. If affiliates are just starting out, they must be very dedicated and hard working, because affiliate marketing requires a lot of time for those who are just starting out.

The first step needed to take in order to make money in affiliate marketing is to choose a market. A potential affiliate must decide what type of product they want to promote. Affiliates can promote nearly any product. Next, they must sign up for an affiliate marketing program. The number of these programs is increasing rapidly on the internet. Once it has been decided what market the affiliate wants to promote, they must then find a program with a quality product. This program should also have a good compensation program. The next step would be deciding on a promotion strategy.

Two promotion strategies used to make money in affiliate marketing are traffic exchanges and blogging. There are several others. Another way would be getting free traffic from search engines through your own personal website. And so, the fourth step would be to obtain a free blog or a website. Websites are offered for free in some cases, and very cheap in other cases. Blogs are typically free. The final step to making money in affiliate marketing is taking action. Be persistent and learn from the marketing tools and resources available on the internet. This will lead to a full income.

Author’s program note: I had no trouble at all coming up with the theme music for this article..It’s “East Bound and Down” from the smash 1977 hit film “Smokey and the Bandit.” It’s got toe-tappin’ energy. Go to any search engine, you’ll find it. Make sure you keep the link because, sure as shootin’, there’ll be some morning or other when you’ll wake up ornery and irritable, the world too much with you. This tune will cheer you up in a flash… and make you smile. Just as this article’s going to do….
“a’we gonna do what they say can’t be done!”
You’ll never understand this story until you see the culprit.  Born  March 22, 1991, “Colt” Harris-Moore was a teen-ager until just the other day. He still looks like a teen-ager, and 16 or 17 at that. And he has the look of a fresh-scrubbed Disney character, all firm flesh and smiles and “yessir” and “thank you, ma’am”.
He’s a big boy; a really big boy, 6 foot 5 inches tall, 205 pounds.  He’s a boy’s boy and you know, with that wicked grin, he’d be mischievous… but you’d bet your bottom dollar he’s a good boy, not a mean bone in his body. But there’s a dark side to this story, and it’s a good idea to get that out right away, so you can make up your own mind about this important matter.
“Colt” Harris-Moore grew up in his mother’s house in Camano Island, Washington. It was a zoo there; chaotic, disruptive, a mess. Neighbors said they made several calls to Child Protective Services, believing he was neglected or abused. His father, Gordon Moore, used drugs and was in prison while Colton was a toddler. When he was just twelve years old, his abusive father walked out during an argument at a family barbecue after attempting to choke him.
According to his mother, Pamela Kohler, his stepfather died when he was about seven years old, and from the time Colton was in first grade, she knew there was “something off about him”, “sort of a disconnection.” He wouldn’t listen to his teachers, starting altercations at school and would sometimes deliberately break things at home.
According to a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation, Harris-Moore said that his mother drank and became mean, breaking his possessions. Any way you slice it mother and son lived in a snake pit of anxieties, fears, and dark depressions… a place to avoid and escape from.
At about the age of 7, Colt started living in the wild; it was better than what he got at home.
It was then he learned his craft as an agile, nimble thief, motivated by what he could get, of course, but increasingly, as he sharpened his skills, pushing the envelope, showing himself how far he could go, how good he could get. He was determined to excel…
He started with robbing the vacation homes of people from far away places; rich, they’d never miss the stuff so easy to purloin, all indications of the stable, ample life he could only know second hand and would never have. They had so much; he so little. Why shouldn’t he just help himself? There’s hardly a kid, even those from the “best” homes who didn’t steal something, sometime. But if they were lucky, they got caught and learned a thing or two.
But Colt didn’t get caught — yet. And so he got better and better. And the game more exciting. He wanted to know, he had to know just how far he could go….
And so it began.
The authorities all knew about Colt… although even in his early days he had no trouble outsmarting them. Still, he got his first conviction for stolen property when he was 12; by the time he was 13, he had three more. Now diagnosed with depression, attention deficit disorder and intermittent explosive disorder, he reckoned he had nothing to lose. Each conviction bought him just 10-days in a detention center, or in community service.
In 2003 things changed and the stakes went up. He stole a neighbor’s camcorder; the police found it in his room. This time he got a sentence with bite: three years. He looked in the mirror, liked what he saw, combed his hair… and walked out of a halfway house. It was April, 2008…. and the Barefoot Bandit was about to show America how folk heroes are born….
“We’ve got  a long way to go and a short time to get there.”
Now this master thief, gifted by God with a cherub’s face and a dazzling smile, got serious.
With adolescent energy and grit and determination which any entrepreneur could envy, he found his vocation… and ran with it,  bare footed.  He stole just for the joy of stealing. It didn’t seem to matter what he stole… although he favored toys that could move him on… for Colt was a moving target… the fastest of all.
He pinched bicycles automobiles, light aircraft, speedboats.
He was a boy who liked speed… liked turning it on, turning it up… the wind always blowing through his hair… getting away from mother, from teachers, from court-ordered psychiatrists… and from every other trammel and inhibition.
“I’m east bound just watch ol’ Bandit run.”
He zoomed east with manic energy and no purpose whatsoever except to keep on moving. The crazinesses added up: he stole flight manuals and flight simulators… so he could steal planes…
He would often slip into homes along the way to soak in a hot bath… or steal ice cream. He stole a credit card to order bear mace; remember, he generally slept in the woods. He stole another card to order a pair of night vision goggles for $6,500.
On May 30 or 31, 2011 police found a handwritten note and $100 at a veterinary clinic in Raymond, Washington. The note said, “Drove by, had some extra cash. Please use this money for the care of animals.” He signed it “Colton Harris-Moore AKA ‘The Barefoot Bandit.’ Camano, Washington.” It was just the kind of thing a real folk hero would do.
And so America began to root for this boy who robbed with his shoes off, in the freedom of bare feet. He moved, always fast, through states he saw only as a blur…  authorities everywhere eager to nab him…
“… he’s hot on your trail and he ain’t gonna rest ‘tiill you’re in jail”
And so it went…. running… robbing.. running some more through Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois… over 100 thefts and counting.
“So you gotta dodge him… you gotta duck him”
And so he did… and while we paid bills, bought groceries, went to work, the image of that boy whirring through time and space grabbed us and grew. We knew he’d get caught…. we just hoped it wouldn’t be for a while yet.  We knew he’d go to jail for a long time…. but he had freedom, real freedom… albeit purchased at a staggering price.
It all came to an end in Harbour Island, Bahamas, July 6, 2010. He was about to steal  a boat, bless him, and local police shot out the engine and grabbed him. Colt had a gun to his head when apprehended. It’s a nice point about whether he’d have been better off using it.
Instead they apprehended him and, in due course extradited him back to Washington State and law and order in the  shape of U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan. She knows nothing of folk heroes and her rage about the boy and his celebrity is palpable. She made sure Colt would never benefit from films, books, or anything else. It won’t matter…  we know Durkan is right, doing her job… but she is not the stuff of Americana. Colt is… and she knows it. So do we…. movie, or not.
“Keep your foot hard on the peddle… son, never mind them brakes.”

The Customer Advantage Company is a new network marketing company that is currently searching for members. Although it is in the beginning stages, it expects to see rapid growth in a short amount of time. Here is The Customer Advantage Company review for you to consider.

About the Founder

John Milanoski is the founder of this new network marketing business. He is well known in marketing for his training system with Marketing Millionaire. He is self-employed since graduating high school in 1985.

Mr. Milanoski is interested in blending marketing and business with local retailers, the Internet, and the consumer. What this business does, is blend together local shopping discount services, with network marketing. This makes it somewhat different than the competitors.

How it Works

Here is how the business functions. It costs absolutely nothing to sign up and join. However, the model is set up by invitation only, as you must be invited by a current member, to join. Once you join, you are sent an offer by one of your local businesses, each day. This offer will be for some kind of products to services, and it will be at a substantial discount. The discount is usually in the fifty percent range.

If you decide that you want the offer, you purchase the coupon, and you can get the large discount, from the business. With this transaction, local business and the consumer benefit. For example, the local business may gain a new repeat customer, and increase sales and profits. The consumer gets to save money on a very good deal. In this aspect, it is similar to the competition.

What Happens When You Join

As soon as you join, you are given your own website. This website is used to help you recruit new members, and it helps you to build your referral business. For example, you may invite a friend to visit your website and join the business. If this person decides to join, you receive a five percent commission on any special deals that he decides to purchase.Customer Advantage Company

Suppose your new member recruits others. The other people will be in your business also, and this works for up to five downstream generations of referrals. You receive a five percent commission on their purchases, also. If you recruit ten or twenty people, the commissions may add up fast.

There is another way to make money with the business. If you enroll any local retailers into the business, you receive a two percent commission on any sales they make to members. These members do not have to be in your referrals, either. The business is still new, so it may take some time for the number of local businesses to grow.

Summary

The Customer Advantage Company review contains good news for consumers and local retailers. This networking marketing program joins consumers and local business together, so they both can make money. It costs nothing to join, and you can make money on your referrals, and their referrals. The business works by letting you receive offers each day, and if you want them, you may save as much as fifty percent.

There seems to be more and more news these days about natural disasters and other unexpected situations that are leaving communities in a state of emergency. Every time a situation like this occurs, the main concern is getting enough food and water to individuals and families that have been affected. Another situation that can affect lives is when there is an economic downfall and people are losing their jobs, and they are worried they won’t be able to afford basic daily necessities, including food. Everyone needs to eat, especially during hard times or emergencies, and this eFoods Global Company review will show you what you need to do to prepare for the future, and how this company can be a good business venture for you right now.

This company is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is head by it’s CEO and founder Steve Shenk. There is an impressive team of professionals that works together to ensure that this business is providing the best possible products, and opportunities, to people who are looking to become more self reliant and secure.

The product line includes high quality, long term, storable food that can save lives in emergencies, times of hardship or natural disasters. No matter what the situation is, you need food, and having food reserves gives you the chance to take control of your life. You have peace of mind knowing that you are prepared to keep yourself and your family fed with products that will nourish and sustain you. These products can be used now, but can also be stored and used fifteen years from now, which provides an expansive safety net.

The products available are made from the finest ingredients that provide nutrition and great flavor, and they are affordable. All foods are dehydrated from fresh, raw food, and are not genetically altered in any way. There are zero trans fats, no MSG, no hydrogenated oils, and no imports that may have used unwanted pesticides or fertilizers. All food is kosher and has been certified by Orthodox Union, and because all food is vegetarian, any reference to chicken, beef or ham is just to represent the flavor profile.

The products available for purchase fall into categories of breakfast, breads, soups and entrees. A few of the options available are:

breakfast/breads – granola, oatmeal, pancakes, biscuits, corn bread muffins, whole wheat bread

soups- chicken noodle, cheddar broccoli, minestrone, creamy potato, tortilla, corn chowder, potato cheddar

entrees- white cheddar pasta, vegetable beef, chicken rice casserole, veggie Alfredo, white cheddar pasta, beef stroganoff

All foods are packed fresh in Mylar pouches, and are dated to assure that they are used while they are freshest and most nutritious. The packaging has a light barrier to provide unlimited shelf life, but the food needs to be stored in a cool, dry area to maintain nutritional value.

This eFoods Global Company review can not only provide you with the tools you need to be independent and prepared for the future, but also gives you the opportunity to be part of a business that is helping people. This is a product you would recommend to your friends and family anyway, so it makes sense to use it, and share it while adding security to your life.

FamilyIQ is a breakthrough program and company that has been helping to improve the lives of families for over ten years now. This article focuses on a FamilyIQ company review and broad overview of how things work. Not only does this company offer therapy to create a better home environment, it also offers a proven system to help with the ever present financial problems found within families. Mark Hobbins is the man behind Family IQ. He founded the company in 2001 and it has continued to grow ever since.

At the start, Mark only marketed his idea through treatment centers and therapists. His main focuses were anger management, parenting skills, and open communication. Mark still cares about these ideals, but has broadened the company’s base to include everyone and anyone in the benefits.

The corporation is based out of California and is a MLM (multi-level marketing) business. If you are also looking for a way to make extra money, you might want to join as a member of their team. Working in a MLM business is a way to earn money, while sharing the work with people in your down-line. Basically, everyone in your group works toward a common goal and this can help make money for everyone.

FamilyIQ is new to the MLM business world because they devised this system in 2010, but keep in mind they have been networking and researching since day one in 2001. The products, training, and educational systems are all online. They have branched out to include a proven business module and a MLM compensation outline. When a new distributor signs up with this MLM they get complete access to all of the online training materials and therapeutic services.

So, not only can consumers get therapeutic services through FamilyIQ, they can also make some money in the process. These are two effective ways to improve family life.

FamilyIQ employs some very successful distributors who have paved the way for the rest of us. One of these distributors is Rod Stinson. Rod signed onto the Top Tier MLM business model years ago and has been humbly making a fortune by using some very innovative marketing sales guidelines based on direct response marketing models. He is very influential in FamilyIQ’s success.

Lets take a quick look at how this compensation plan works. To become a part of this company it costs $1495. This is very resonable in this industry. Some of the higher end MLM’s cost between $5,000 to $20,000 to join. So, you pay 1495.00 to join and reap all of the rewards. But, here is the perk. Since this is a MLM, every time you also have another person join you will receive a 70% commission. Sounds like an easy $1000.

This FamilyIQ company review shows that CEO Mark Hobbins seems to have a grasp on what it takes to improve family relations. Two of these key components are money and effective communication. This MLM system offers a proven plan designed to counteract any problems concerning these issues. With effective counseling services and a system designed to bring in money, Family IQ can help relieve some of the stresses so often found inside family units.

While you’re trying to build your own MLM sales team, you might be tempted to use some methods that unscrupulous directors or team leaders suggest. But learning what NOT to do when recruiting MLM direct reps will ensure you much greater success, and a much better night’s sleep, as well!

Never lie to a prospective recruit

Be honest about your company’s performance, compensation plan, upfront costs as well as hidden costs, expectations, etc. Letting a recruit know in advance what to expect will save you both time and heartaches. This will also help prevent the nightmare of new recruits who leave the team because they find out the “truth” about the program after they sign up. Having an unhappy ex-recruit out there is a sure way to destroy your reputation and business.

Never exaggerate your compensation plan

While it’s okay to point out the best possible scenario, never inflate the numbers when talking about how much a consultant can make with your company. Exaggerations are lies. Lying or exaggerating your business rewards will quickly ruin your reputation with your team, and in your business circles. And like everyone else, team members talk, and they’ll quickly let others know they can’t believe what you say about the business… as they’re searching for another direct sales opportunity they can believe in!

Never maroon a new recruit

If you sign up a new recruit and then leave them to drift out to sea alone, you will quickly have an unhappy recruit, not to mention no return for your investment! Instead, offer training for your team members individually and as a group. Teach them to sell, and to recruit others. Help them build their businesses because doing so will build your business in the long run.

Never think money is the only motivation

Many people sign up with a direct sales business because they want to earn extra money.  But, there are others who will do so because they like the products, or they want something to do in their spare time. Others may only want to get the company discount. Keep this in mind as you’re recruiting. Each recruit has their own motivation and all are valuable to your team. And pushing a recruit in a direction that’s contrary to their own personal motivation will only result in resistance and eventual failure.

Never forget friends and family as possible recruits

You may think “she’ll never be interested,” but you may be surprised to learn that your sister, cousin, aunt, or best friend are really looking for a way to earn some extra money. For that matter, never assume the answer will be “no” with anyone! Even if it is, you’ve not risked anything by offering the opportunity. You don’t want to hear “Gee, I wish you would have told me how I could make extra money.” or “I would have joined you if you would have asked.” or “I didn’t know you could make money doing that.” Go ahead and offer the opportunity.

Recruiting new team members for your MLM business can be fun and profitable. But learn what not to do when recruiting direct sales reps so you don’t cause yourself undue stress, or waste your time with useless strategies that won’t work, and may even scare away new recruits.

With the advent on online recruiting, direct sales consultants may neglect the all-important task of searching for new team members locally. But building your sales team with offline  recruiting is still a tremendous way to grow your direct sales business and one you should use from the start. Here are a few ideas for promoting your business, and hopefully gaining new recruits, around your own town:

Place a newspaper ad

Post a small classified ad in your local newspaper or community shopper. These ads can pay for themselves with just one new recruit and can help get the word out about your business opportunity every week.

Create a simple flyer

Ideally, you’ll want to create a flyer with tear-off tabs on the bottom with your phone number, website, and email address. Then, post these flyers all around town at banks, laundromats, dollar stores, book stores, libraries, music stores, thrift shops, universities, trade schools, daycares, and other businesses with bulletin boards designed for this purpose. Keep a list of everywhere you posted your flyer, and make it a point to routinely check back and ensure your flyer remains on the board in good condition.

Use business cards

Business cards have been neglected lately, but they shouldn’t be. Be sure you have good business cards printed with simple information about your business opportunity. Of course you’ll want to include complete contact information, as well. Now, hand them out to everyone you meet. Ask friends and family members to help you get the word out by distributing your business cards in their workplaces or stores they frequent.

Join a local business networking group (I Highly Recommend!!)

Promote your business opportunity with like-minded individuals. While some of the larger groups may be cost prohibitive, smaller groups can be surprisingly affordable. If you can’t find a local networking group, start your own. They’re easy to operate and you may be surprised how many other small and home-based business owners might be looking for just such an opportunity to promote their own businesses.

Join a community job fair

Set up a booth and spread the word. Hand out brochures about your company, answer questions about your business opportunity, and make yourself available to anyone who’s interested. Hold a drawing for a free gift as a means of gathering potential leads to add to your mailing list, as well as creating goodwill. Don’t forget a treat, like free cookies, will almost always slow down a passerby for at least a few minutes to hear about what you have to offer.

Create imaginative recruiting bags and gifts

Take a clear plastic bag or gift bag and fill with a few fun and informative items like:

1.     a copy of your best commission check

2.     a brochure about your business opportunity

3.     an opportunity CD or DVD, if applicable

4.     a sample product

5.     a miniature $100,000 or Payday candy bar

6.     a business card

Add some colorful shredded paper and seal with a decorative label that lists all your contact information. These make great tools for reaching new recruits in banks and stores you frequent. Don’t forget your own home parties you host for your direct sales business. Be sure to keep these recruiting gift bags handy and hand them out to prospective recruits at each party.

There are a number of ways to start building your team with offline recruits. The key is to look for opportunities to share your business with everyone you meet and your team will start to grow before you know it!

Finding new recruits is the backbone of a growing, successful direct sales business. With more and more direct sales companies allowing online recruiting, this task is easier than ever. Knowing how to locate new recruits using the Internet will save you time and effort as you work to build your team. Here are several ideas to get you started recruiting online:

Clearly post recruiting objectives on your website

The first thing to do is be sure your recruiting information is clearly posted on your website. This will be the page you direct prospective recruits to, so let it answer any question a new recruit might ask. Be sure to include a comprehensive FAQs section.

Include a signature file on outgoing emails

This is usually done through the Tools, Options, or Preferences section of your email program. Doing so will put a link to your website at the bottom of every message you send out and will let others know what your business is. It will also attract people to your website, which is what you want.

Use a creative tag line

Rather than simply signing off with the name of your company, use something like “Looking for a work-at-home opportunity that costs less than a new dress?” or “Ask me how you can earn a FREE sales kit when you join my team!” Come up with something that will interest prospective recruits and get them to click the link for more information.

Join a discussion forum

Discussion forums are a tremendous location for finding new direct sales recruits. Search the term WAHM discussion forum and you’ll come up with hundreds of possibilities. Visit the most likely results and see which ones appeal to you. Understand that you’ll be looking for people interested in a work-at-home opportunity or a way to earn extra money rather than those that deal specifically with directs sales. You’re looking for places that attract people who want to earn money, not a forum filled with other company reps.

Join an email group

Google Groups, Yahoo Groups, and similar sites offer thousands of email lists on any topic you can imagine. Search for large groups that have been around awhile and that show a lot of interaction between members. Again, target lists that attract your ideal recruit, rather than those filled with other consultants. And avoid those that are strictly ads. Ad lists (often called “SPAM lists”) are a waste of time. People join them simply to send their own ads and very few members actually read the messages.

Use your social networking

Tell people about your business opportunity using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Post  small bytes of information that can “tease” people into visiting your site to find out more and to learn about your business.  Don’t litter your social networking sites with only promotional posts, but throwing in a few casual “ads” every day is totally acceptable, and might gain you some of your best recruits.

Place an ad on Craigslist.

Be sure to use the correct business slot, or under the employment ads that apply to commission only jobs. Don’t be surprised or discouraged if your ad gets kicked off a few times, even if you followed the rules. Sometimes people will flag what they consider a competing business opportunity simply to get rid of the competition. These spiteful people are trying to stop you from running a clean, upright campaign for your business. Keep an eye on the site and if your ad disappears, simply repost it again. Hopefully, your competitor will eventually get the message that you’re determined to place an appropriate ad on the site and stop flagging it. If not, contact the webmaster with your concerns.

Avoid using SPAM

A very important rule of “netiquette” to keep in mind is to never use SPAM to locate new recruits. SPAM is unsolicited commercial messages sent to people you don’t know or who haven’t asked to receive your information. Sending such messages can get you kicked off forums, dropped from lists, and banned quicker than you can say “I’m sorry!”

Learning how-to locate new recruits online is a simple process, and one that will reward you greatly as you begin to sign on new team members and consultants to build your business.
